Jean Kawiecki
Jean Kawiecki lives in Santa Barbara, CA, with her husband Matt and two teen-aged daughters. They have been homeschooling for eleven years. Jean studied at the University of Wyoming to become a teacher because she always believed that she would be teaching her own children (even before homeschooling was a word). When she was a young girl, many who were serving the Lord in other countries visited her church and all of their kids were in boarding schools. Believing that the Lord was asking her to ‘GO’, she wanted to prepare herself to teach her children rather than send them away.
Several years ago, the Kawieckis found that their research into and study of homeschooling , as well as, their experience, were the key ingredients needed by those who are serving overseas. Jean (her family, too, as much as they are able to afford) travels now several times a year to meet with groups of families who are in Kingdom work abroad to help them with their homeschool adventure.
And since the Lord always knows when to stretch us a bit, two years ago He led us to start both the Artios Academy and Conservatory (simultaneously – we are a little bit crazy). We are finishing up our second year directing the school and are loving the fruit that we see it producing.
Jean is a really just a mom like you. She has laundry and dishes. She sins and so do her kids and husband, yet, the Lord just remains faithful to His promise to forgive. And He just keeps letting us be involved in what He is doing in the world. We are so grateful! What an amazing thing that He chooses people who do not have it all together. He just asks us to show up. So… here we are.
My Heart’s Yearning – Why do I want my house to be beautiful? What draws me to the beautiful flowers that are planted in the neighbor’s garden? Why do those quotes move me so? In this workshop we will look at how we, as image-bearers of the Creator, are made to enjoy and create beauty. And while we are looking at all of the external beauty that we can enjoy, we will explore the internal beauty that makes us a ‘Reflection of His Beauty.’
Getting It ALL Done – The laundry, the dishes, 3 meals a day, lessons to prepare, Sunday school to teach, piano to practice, exercise, personal hygiene – A-A-A-A-A-A-H-H-H-H-H-H! How can we get it all done? Let’s look together at how to get the things done that we are called to do and let go of the things that we are just holding onto. In this workshop we will look at how to distinguish the two and then how to organize the ones that we still have on our lists.
